THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the weakening of the monsoon, the state is sweltering under intense heat and power cuts. The Meteorological Department indicated that light rain is likely in some districts from Monday to Wednesday.

The state is hopeful that the Northeast Monsoon (Thulavarsham) will arrive in a month. In anticipation of rain, 'Yellow Alerts' have been issued for Palakkad, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta districts on Monday; Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Malappuram districts on Tuesday; and Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Idukki districts on Wednesday.

These areas are expected to receive isolated rainfall. Meanwhile, reports indicate there is no respite from the heat across the state anytime soon. Punalur recorded the highest temperature at 35.6°C, while temperatures stood at 35.2°C in Kannur and 35°C in Kottayam.
