THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The sweltering weather will continue in the state today. The temperature is likely to rise by 3 to 4 degrees.
On Tuesday, the highest temperature was recorded in Punalur (35.2 degrees). The temperature was 34.6 in Kochi, 34 in Thiruvananthapuram, 33.6 in Kozhikode, 33.5 in Thrissur, 33.4 in Palakkad.
In a news that would bring much-needed relief, IMD reported that widespread rain is likely in the state on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A yellow alert was issued in Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts on Thursday, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam districts on Friday and Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Palakkad districts on Saturday.
A cyclonic circulation has formed in the central-west Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Andhra Pradesh coast. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal and along the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts.
