THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM is likely to keep former Palakkad district secretary E. N. Suresh Babu away from party programmes. The CPM leadership is considering strict disciplinary action against him. The leadership is of the view that it would not be appropriate for Suresh Babu to attend party programmes amid complaints, including allegations of misconduct.
Although he has been removed from the post of district secretary, Suresh Babu continues to be a member of the district secretariat and the state committee. The CPM maintains that his removal from the secretary’s post was part of corrective organisational action and that no complaint has been received against him.
Leaders who arrived to attend the expanded district committee meetings in Kozhikode, Pathanamthitta and Idukki did not clarify whether a woman party worker had filed a complaint. Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan declined to respond to questions from the media.
CPM central committee member Thomas Isaac said he did not know what had happened in Palakkad and that his focus was on Pathanamthitta. E. P. Jayarajan said organisational action had been taken in Palakkad. K. K. Shailaja said she was not aware of the complaint in Palakkad.
