THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Communist Party of India State Secretariat meeting decided not to back down from its demand for the post of Deputy Leader of the Opposition. The meeting made it clear that there should be no compromise or kowtowing to CPI-M leadership. CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam responded that a positive decision is expected from the CPI-M in this regard.

CPI is one of the most powerful allies in the LDF camp. Binoy Viswam said that the LDF belongs to CPI as much as it belongs to CPM. Binoy Viswam also kept hope that a solution to the dilemma would happen soon.

Meanwhile, the CPM is of the view that the post of deputy leader of the opposition need not be given to CPI. The party points out the precedent that whenever it was in the opposition, the CPM used to hold the post of deputy leader. The discussion held by the state secretaries of both parties the other day also failed.
