KOTTAYAM: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has once again intercepted Robin Bus for operating illegally. The incident happened at Erattupetta in Kottayam last night. The bus plying on the Kanjirappally-Pala route was stopped. The MVD said that the bus did not have a permit. However, Girish, the owner of Robin Bus, claimed that there is a court order to operate the bus until August 30. There was a dispute earlier between the MVD and Girish over interstate permit.

The bus was seized at 8 pm last night. Girish asked if there was a specific agenda behind this or else the bus could not operate services for such a long time. The bus was plying on a court order since 2003. The court order is usually written and given. An application is being given for permit every time. The application was renewed on June 10. Now there are four buses. Out of them, only one is running on a court order. Girish said that an officer named Jayaprakash illegally stopped his bus.

However, Kottayam RTO Jayaraj said that although the owner of the bus has applied for a permit as per the court order, the fee has not been paid. The permit can be issued only after the fee is paid. Therefore, the MVD has the authority to seize the bus running without a permit, said the RTO.
