Rs 1800 to keep laptop cool; Sustainable Coiro products to enter market soon

ALAPPUZHA: Cooling pads and bags to protect laptops from overheating are not something new. However, the product designed by the National Coir Research and Management Institute is special and novel. Developed after more than a year of research, these 'Coiro' products will hit the market once the patent is secured. Authorities believe that manufacturing value-added products from coir fibre can help address the crisis facing the coir industry.

The cooling pads and bags are designed by arranging coir fibre into a specialised bed-like structure and encasing it in a specific type of fabric. They function by leveraging the natural properties of coir fibre: absorbing and dissipating the heat generated by the laptop during operation while channelling cooler ambient air toward the laptop's casing.
