'From Rs 20 lakhs to Rs two crore'; Kayadu Lohar's 'Dragon' effect

Tamil blockbuster movie ‘Dragon’ has upended the career of actress Kayadu Lohar. The actress, who was paid Rs 20 lakhs as remuneration for Dragon reportedly increased it to Rs 2 crore, owing to her surge in popularity and demand.

Dragon came without much ado and turned out to be a blockbuster, with the Marathi actress taking away most of the praise.

Kayadu is familiar to Malayalees for her protagonist role in the 2022 period action movie ‘Pathonpatham Noottandu’, which ended up being a superhit. Despite winning adulation for her role, Kayadu had to wait for three more years to become an overnight sensation in South India with Dragon.

The Dragon effect is already palpable as the actress has her kitty full of movies with superstars like Simbu and Ravi Teja. Her latest film Immortal with G.V. Prakash is gearing up for release.

In recent times, Kayadu’s name was embroiled in an ED investigation into a financial corruption case related to TASMAC, the state-run liquor company of Tamil Nadu.

It was reported that Kayadu's name was revealed by those now in custody in the TASMAC case.

It is also alleged that Kayadu received Rs 35 lakh to attend a night party organized by the accused. An investigation has been launched to find out if the actress has any connection with the corruption. Till now, the actress has not responded to the allegations.
