Vaazha 2:

Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros, directed by newcomer Savin SA and featuring a fresh cast, has become a sensation. The film stars a group of young actors who rose to fame via Instagram Reels, including Hashir, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy, Vinayak, and Ameen. Having emerged as a massive blockbuster in Malayalam, the movie is currently racing ahead with a global collection of ₹210 crore.

The Telugu version of the film was also released today. Songs from the movie have been dominating social media trends, particularly the track beginning with the lines "Thooki Chuvanna Karangalode." While the song, penned by actor-lyricist Shabareesh Varma, has become a fan favourite, he recently took to Facebook to point out that many are singing the lyrics incorrectly.

The Clarification

In a video posted to his social media, Shabareesh explained the exact words and their meaning for those who were confused:

"Vaazha is a massive hit; congratulations to everyone. The song has been embraced by all, and I am incredibly happy. My heartfelt thanks to those who messaged, called, sang it for me, and tagged me. A special thanks to singer Maalavika for capturing the soul of the lyrics, and to Music Director Arcado for giving me such a brilliant composition. Thanks also to Ankit for coordinating this experiment—working with ten music directors is no small feat. Congrats to the 'Captain' Vipin Das, the director, and the entire Vaazha team."

"Caught Red-Handed"

Shabareesh didn't hold back when addressing the mispronunciation of his lyrics:

"I have something to say to the 'fools' (both men and women) who don't understand Malayalam properly. 'Thooki Chuvanna Karangalode' translates to 'Caught Red-Handed.' This is originally a 15th or 16th-century Scottish proverb. It originated from the idea of being caught with blood on one's hands after committing a murder. Today, it is used to mean being caught while doing something wrong.

"Those who have seen the movie will understand the context. Pay attention to the lyrics: it is Thook-ki (/t̪uːkːi/ — pronounced with a hard, stressed 'k' as in 'back-kick'), which means 'caught' or 'held.' It is not Thoo-ki (/t̪uːki/ — pronounced with a soft 'k' as in 'baking'), which would mean 'spilled' or 'shed.'
