Women to helm ‘AMMA’; Swetha Menon, Kukku Parameswaran elected president, general secretary

KOCHI: The results of the elections held in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) have been announced. Swetha Menon has been elected the association’s president and Kukku Parameswaran as the general secretary. Unni Sivapal is the treasurer. Jayan Cherthala is leading in vice president’s post. Swetha and Kukku were leading when the counting of votes began. Ansiba Hasan was earlier elected unopposed as the joint secretary.

Out of the total 504 members, 298 voted. Guinness Pakru was the last to vote. The counting of votes began at 2 pm. There has been a huge drop in the voting percentage this time. 357 people voted last time. The voting percentage last time was 70 percent. Despite tough race, there was a 12 percent drop in voting.

Swetha Menon and Devan contested for the post of president this time. Raveendran also contested for the post of general secretary against Kukku. Jayan Cherthala, Nassar Latheef and Lakshmi Priya are contesting for the post of vice president.
