Fuel prices rise again in country, second hike in four days

NEW DELHI: Amidst the war in the Middle East, fuel prices have been increased again in the country. Petrol has been increased by 86 paise per liter and diesel by 83 paise. This is the second time in four days that fuel prices have been increased.


With the new rates coming into effect, petrol prices in Thiruvananthapuram have increased to Rs 111.71 paise. Diesel prices have crossed Rs 100. In Kochi, petrol prices have increased to Rs 109.60. Diesel prices are Rs 98.45. In Delhi, petrol prices have increased to Rs 98.64 and diesel prices to Rs 91.58. In Mumbai, petrol prices have reached Rs 107.59 and diesel prices to Rs 94.08. In Kolkata, the new rate for petrol is Rs 109.70. Diesel prices are Rs 96.07. In Chennai, petrol prices rose to Rs 104.49 and diesel to Rs 96.11.


Fuel prices were increased in the country last Friday. Petrol and diesel were increased by Rs 3 per liter each. CNG prices also increased by Rs 2 per kg. Subsequently, petrol prices in Thiruvananthapuram rose to Rs 110.76 and diesel to Rs 99.26. The new move is part of India's measures to protect its foreign exchange reserves as crude oil prices remain high.
