Attempted to sexually abuse minor boy by promising him birthday gift; teacher arrested in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: A teacher has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually abuse a Class 9 student. The arrested person has been identified as Sajeendra Babu, a native of Nallalam in Kozhikode. According to the police, Sajeendra Babu allegedly lured the minor by promising to give him a birthday gift.

He asked the boy to accompany him to his house, claiming that the gift was kept there, and took him on a motorcycle. After reaching the house, Sajeendra Babu started behaving inappropriately with the boy. However, the boy resisted and ran out of the house. He later informed his relative about the matter. Following this, the family approached the school authorities, who in turn informed the Nallalam police. After recording the child’s statement, the police registered a case under relevant sections, including provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The teacher, who was presented in court, has been remanded.
