KOCHI: Customs seized gold from the passenger of a flight that landed urgently at Nedumbassery. The seized gold was planned to be transported from Jeddah through Karipur airport. Samad, a resident of Malappuram, was taken into custody. 1650 grams of gold was found hidden inside a towel tied around his waist.

All the passengers were dropped off at Nedumbassery airport and shifted to the terminal after the hydraulic system broke down. Later, Samad was arrested when he was going through security checks to take the passengers to Karipur on another flight. The Spice Jet flight that left Jeddah yesterday was unable to land at Kozhikode and diverted to Kochi. The plane landed safely after more than two attempts here.
