KOCHI: A 31-year-old bank employee has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his partner and abandoning her on the roadside after assuming she was dead. The suspect, identified as Nithin, a native of Kothamangalam, reportedly attacked the woman after she pressured him to call off his upcoming wedding, which is scheduled for this Monday.
The Kunnathunadu police have registered a case of attempted murder against him.
According to law enforcement, the survivor is a mother of one and a resident of Pattimattom. The conflict escalated last Saturday when she discovered Nithin’s wedding plans and demanded that he back out of the alliance. A heated argument ensued, during which Nithin brutally assaulted the woman and attempted to strangle her.
Believing she had succumbed to the injuries, Nithin tied her hands together and dumped her body in a secluded, bushy area near Kozhippilly in Kothamangalam.
The woman regained consciousness early the following morning and managed to reach the Kozhippilly junction, where she alerted local residents. After receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital, she approached the police to file a formal complaint, leading to Nithin's arrest.
