
KOCHI: Police have intensified their search for a 20-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a three-and-a-half-year-old girl at an anganwadi. The accused is the son of the anganwadi teacher. He is currently absconding, and the Kochi City Police have launched a strong search operation to trace him. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by the child’s parents.
The incident took place five days ago at an anganwadi under the Kochi Corporation limits. The parents became suspicious after noticing that the child was experiencing physical discomfort. When they asked her about it, the child revealed that the young man had touched her inappropriately. Following this, the family approached the police and the Child Welfare Committee with a complaint.
Based on the complaint, the Kochi City Police registered a case against the 20-year-old under the POCSO Act and launched an investigation. During the investigation, police found that the teacher’s son used to frequently visit the anganwadi. When police reached his house to question him, he was not found. Following this, the search for the accused was intensified.
