Amoebic meningoencephalitis claims life of young nurse in Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: A nurse has died after being infected with amoebic meningoencephalitis. The deceased has been identified as Arya Mol, daughter of Vijayan and Ambili of Neerkkunnam, Ambalappuzha.

She had been experiencing symptoms of the illness for about a month. She passed away while undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram.

Two months ago, Arya moved back home following her resignation from her job in Bengaluru. She had decided to leave her role to prepare for a career overseas. When symptoms first appeared, she sought treatment at Alappuzha Medical College. As her condition worsened, she was later admitted to a private hospital in Parumala. With her health deteriorating further, she was shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, where she succumbed to the illness.
