ALAPPUZHA: Ambalapuzha MLA G Sudhakaran has strongly criticised Kuttanad MLA Reji Cherian. Sudhakaran was angered by Reji Cherian's visit to the Thottapally spillway and estuary in Ambalapuzha without informing him.
Sudhakaran alleged that the move was a sign of one MLA trying to establish power over another MLA.
Sudhakaran opined that Reji Cherian’s arrogance comes from his high financial status and warned that the Kuttanad MLA would even lose his position if he filed a complaint with the ethics committee of the assembly. Many leaders visit Reji Cherian's place to drink and get booze. I know many of them. Sudhakaran said that he never visited the place and opined that, for the same reason, many leaders may not like him.
"The person who has changed four or five parties without any political ideology is now an MLA, and is visiting Thottapally without my knowledge. That too, he is a first-time MLA. He is a close aide of the irrigation minister. Does the MLA have the courage to ask to repair the broken shutter on the spillway?
I doubt the role of the black sand mafia behind this. Some lorries loaded with black sand are going to Adoor. This is how smuggling is being carried out. Collectors have not looked into this issue seriously," said G. Sudhakaran.
Meanwhile, Kuttanad MLA Reji Cherian came forward with a response to G Sudhakaran. Reji Cherian retorted, “Sudhakaran still thinks he is in CPM. I didn't go there to take some sand and return home. I was elected by the people of this place. I will continue to work for them.”
