Couple found dead in rented house; bodies lying in pool of blood

KOTTAYAM: In a shocking incident, a couple was found dead inside a house at Thonippara in Ponkunnam. The deceased have been identified as Sajan, a native of Mannar in Alappuzha, and his wife Anisha. Their three-year-old child was also inside the house at the time of the incident. The incident took place on Monday morning.

The couple had moved into the rented house only a week ago. The house owner came to check after hearing the child crying, but the door was locked from the inside. He then called the person who had introduced the couple to him. Using another key, they opened the door and found both Sajan and Anisha lying in a pool of blood.

The house owner told the police that loud arguments were often heard from the house. Relatives said the couple had been facing serious financial problems. Police said there were no signs of forced entry or external assault. The child has been handed over to relatives. Ponkunnam Police said that they have launched an investigation into the incident.
