Ganesh Kumar forced solar accused to name Oommen Chandy in case, testifies former staff

KOLLAM: A statement says Ganesh Kumar deliberately tried to implicate former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar sexual abuse case. It is reported that Minister K B Ganesh Kumar asked the complainant in the solar sexual abuse case to include Oommen Chandy in the complaint.

This was revealed by the minister’s former personal staff Sanjay Khan. He gave a statement before Kottarakkara First Class Judicial Magistrate E R Arjun Raj in this regard. In his statement, he said that Ganesh Kumar had said that if he was not included in the cabinet, he would implicate Oommen Chandy in the sexual assault case and defame him. He also allegedly said that next time he would join the LDF, become an MLA and a minister, and then we’ll see. Sanjay Khan, who is also a former district panchayat member, had served as Ganesh Kumar’s personal staff from 2001 to 2004.

He further stated that Ganesh Kumar had to resign from the cabinet in 2013 due to family issues. Ganesh Kumar had repeatedly asked him to exert pressure on Oommen Chandy and UDF leaders to reinstate him in the cabinet. In May 2015, Ganesh called him to the Pathanapuram office, where he went along with Congress leader C R Najeeb. When they reached there, the complainant in the solar case was present there.

Ganesh Kumar told her, ‘Oommen Chandy should also be included in the case, otherwise our plan won’t work. Everything else is in your hands.’ She agreed and then left the place. Ganesh Kumar spoke to them in a friendly tone but with a hint of threat. He warned that if he was not included in the cabinet, he would implicate Oommen Chandy in the sexual assault case and tarnish his image. Sanjay Khan stated that he immediately informed Oommen Chandy’s personal assistant about this over the phone.

Sanjay Khan is a witness in the plea filed by advocate Sudheer Jacob, who alleged a conspiracy behind the addition of four extra pages to the letter submitted by the complainant in the solar sexual assault case before the solar commission. In the case, the complainant is the first accused and Ganesh Kumar is the second accused.
