THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM General Secretary MA Baby said CPM would not pressurise the government to implement the party’s stance regarding the entry of women into Sabarimala. MA Baby said that the party will make a decision based on the advice of an expert group consisting of scholars and social reformers who can give opinions on issues related to places of worship.

MA Baby:

“The party will have an opinion regarding places of worship. But the parties should respond to such issues by trying to create a consensus in society by taking into account all factors. There should not be any social conflicts when trying to protect the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution,” said MA Baby.

The media may write 'CPM decided to water down their previous stance on women entry in Sabarimala', which is totally fine for us. The LDF government only implemented the decision of the Supreme Court. At first, all political parties welcomed the decision. However, the stance changed due to politics associated with the issue. The government came to a decision minding the current social situation.”
