THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Isolated heavy rain is likely to lash the state today. Yellow alert has been sounded in Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. Monsoon is likely to strengthen across the state from the beginning of July. Fishing is prohibited in Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts.

Warning of high waves
Indian National Center for Oceanography Studies (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of wave and storm surge of 2.5 to 2.7 meters height along Kerala coast (from Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) from 28.06.2023 to 05.30 pm to 29.06.2023 to 11.30 pm.

Fishermen and coastal residents asked to be vigilant

1) As rough seas are likely to intensify, people should stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2) Keep fishing vessels safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3) Avoid trips to the beach
