
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite summer rains in some districts, temperatures across Kerala remain high. In Palakkad, the temperature reached 40°C again on Monday, marking the fourth time this month.
Temperatures recorded yesterday were 39.5°C in Punalur, 38.2°C in Kottayam, and 37.6°C in Kannur. Kozhikode and Kochi recorded 36°C, while Thiruvananthapuram saw 35.5°C. Some areas in Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, Kasaragod, and Wayanad received rain yesterday. Isolated summer showers are expected in the coming days. An orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts.
Heatstroke: Take precautions
The Disaster Management Authority has issued a warning to protect children from heatstroke. Immediate medical care is needed if symptoms appear. Signs include red and dry skin, high body temperature, excessive thirst, rapid heartbeat, vomiting, headache, and heat rashes.
Drop in power consumption
Electricity usage, which had been rising sharply, dropped on Sunday. This was due to summer rains in many districts and the holiday. Daily consumption stood at 106.035 million units. Peak demand, which had crossed 6000 MW in recent days, fell to 5600 MW on Sunday.
