
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The next phase of development works at the Vizhinjam Port will be formally launched today at 4 pm, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurating the construction. Minister V N Vasavan will chair the event, while Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal will attend as the chief guest.
Ministers K Rajan, V Sivankutty, K N Balagopal, Saji Cherian, G R Anil, and Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan will be present. Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V V Rajesh and MPs Shashi Tharoor, A A Rahim, John Brittas, and Adoor Prakash are also expected to attend.
Several MLAs, including M Vincent, V Joy, O S Ambika, V Sasi, D K Murali, Kadakampally Surendran, V K Prasanth, G Stephen, C K Harindran, I B Sathish, and K Ansalan, will take part in the event.
Others attending include Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports; Ports Department Secretary Dr A Kaushigan; Union Ports Secretary Vijay Kumar; Adani Ports Director Ashwani Gupta; Vizhinjam Port CEO Pradeep Jayaraman; VIZHINJAM International Seaport Ltd (VISL) MD Divya S Iyer; and Maritime Board Chairman N S Pillai.
