Youth suspected to be killed by elephant while chasing it off from agricultural fields

SULTAN BATHERY: A youth, who went to chase away a wild elephant that entered an agricultural field, was found dead. He has been identified as Rejeev of Vadakkanad. He is suspected to be attacked by the wild elephant.

Rejeev had gone to chase the elephant away after knowing that it had entered the agricultural farm at night. After it did not return after a long time, locals and relatives searched for it and found him lying unconscious on the ground. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

Meantime, initial information is that there are no fatal injuries on his body. However, the elephant's footprints were found near the place where he was found. The exact cause of death can be known only through post-mortem. Wildlife disturbance is a constant problem in Bathery Vadakkanad area.
