KOCHI: The police arrested a man who wrote a letter to BJP state committee office threatening to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Kerala visit. Kochi Kaloor native Xavier is the accused. He was arrested after the scientific examination of his handwriting.

The police clarified that he wrote the letter in his neighbour Johnny’s name due to personal revenge. The letter sent in the name of Ernakulam native Joseph John Nadumuttathil was received on April 18. The phone number was also mentioned in the letter. Later on, the police found that Joseph John is NJ Johnny, a native of Ernakulam. Johnny had alleged that he didn’t write the letter and Xavier, his neighbour, was behind it. Johnny told the police that Xavier may have done this due to personal enmity.

Xavier was then interrogated but he denied the allegation. The handwriting was subjected to scientific examination. Some of the locals also testified against Xavier. Johnny said that during church prayer group meeting, there was a dispute regarding the funds and Xavier threatened him to face the consequences.
