‘I never said Perunna should be purified; my remarks were twisted,’ says Suresh Gopi 

NEW DELHI: Union Minister Suresh Gopi said that he had never said that Perunna, the headquarters of the NSS, should be purified, and that the media had distorted his remarks. Suresh Gopi said that his statements from the inauguration of the Mannam Smrithi Mandapam in Delhi two months back, were twisted. He said this while speaking at the inaugural function of Global Nair Conference.

‘My words were twisted. Even the word ‘purification’ was misunderstood. Some distorted even the act of cleansing one’s hands while singing Vande Mataram,’ he said.

The Global Nair Conference, jointly organised by the Global Nair Samajam and NSS Delhi, was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The chief minister said that people from all parts of the country, including Malayalees, have contributed to the growth of Delhi. She said Delhi is progressing every day as part of the goal of building a Viksit Bharat.

She also said that Malayalees are hardworking and informed that the demand to install a statue of Mannath Padmanabhan in Delhi would be considered.
