MALAPPURAM: Malappuram police have arrested Thrissur Cooperative Vigilance DySP KA Suresh Babu's wife Nusrat (36) in a financial fraud case. According to police, there are nine cases against Nusrat in Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Kollam stations for committing fraud by posing as a lawyer and offering jobs in the Railways. Police arrested Nusrat from the DySP's house in Thrissur on the complaint of a Malappuram native who accused Nusrat of embezzling Rs 4.85 lakh by offering her a job in the Railways. Several complaints were raised against Nusrat showing that she had embezzled money and gold worth half a crore of rupees from many people in a year.

The victims of fraud had lodged complaints with the Chief Minister, DGP and Malappuram SP. The victims of the fraud alleged that the accused tried to settle the case by using her influence. They alleged that Nusrat committed fraud by renting flats in various places and setting up board reading 'advocate'. It is known that she got married to DySP ten months ago. Both of them met while the police officer was working as DySP in Tirur. Earlier, the Tirur First Class Magistrate Court had issued a warrant against Nusrat.
