House to adjourn for discussing economic crisis; Chief Minister thanks opposition

v

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Legislative Assembly will adjourn to discuss the financial crisis in the state. The discussion on the adjournment motion notice given by the opposition will be held at 1 pm. Two hours are allotted for discussion. This will be the first adjournment motion discussion during the ongoing session. The Chief Minister said that he was thankful to the opposition for bringing an adjournment motion on the financial crisis. He also thanked them for criticising the Centre in the notice. The Chief Minister said that the opposition has been trying to blame the state government so far. The opposition said that the reason for the financial crisis was the lapses in financial management and extravagance.

This marks the seventh occasion since the second Pinarayi government took office that permission has been given to discuss the adjournment motion after adjourning the House. The House had discussed the financial crisis last September as well. The situation remains the same now as well. The state government is raising major allegations against the Centre such as ignoring the state and denying the benefits that it deserves. It also accuses the Centre of slashing the state's borrowing limit. However, the opposition will discuss the extravagance of the state government.
