THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department said that there is a possibility of heat wave in twelve districts of the state in the next two days. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kannur, Kasaragod, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts are likely to see an increase of two to four degrees Celsius above normal.
In Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod, the temperature is likely to rise up to 37 degrees Celsius, in Kollam, Alappuzha and Kottayam, the temperature may rise to 38 degrees Celsius and in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode, the temperature may rise to 36 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department has also said that hot and humid conditions are likely, except in hilly areas due to high temperature and humid air. The State Disaster Management Authority has also stated that the public should be cautious as the high heat can lead to many serious health problems such as sunstroke, sunburn and dehydration.
