Body of newborn found in hospital toilet in Nilambur

NILAMBUR: The body of a newborn baby was found in a bucket in the toilet of a private hospital near Akampadam. A woman, a Vettekode native, who is believed to have abandoned the baby, is under the lens. The body was shifted to the Manjeri Medical College Hospital morgue for postmortem. The body of the newborn baby was found in a bucket while the cleaning staff entered the toilet at 10 am yesterday.

A young woman was brought to the hospital by her relatives at 11 pm on Monday. She was advised to be taken to the Nilambur District Hospital due to bleeding. The young woman, who went to the toilet to change her dress, returned after about half an hour. She was immediately taken to the Nilambur District Hospital in an ambulance. The young woman is undergoing treatment there. There are indications that the young woman confessed to the doctor at the district hospital that she gave birth and abandoned the baby.
