Shobi Thilakan, son of veteran actor Thilakan, said that traveling with his father helped him nurture the actor and dubbing artist in him. If talked to his father for an hour, will get things for five films, said Shobi Thilakan in an interview to a media.

Shobi also revealed what his father said about Dulquer Salman, son of Mammootty. 'Shooting of Ustad Hotel was going on. Me and my father were going to Riyadh to attend a function. When we were on the flight, I simply asked him how is Dulquer. He said that he was not bad and doing well for his age. Such a comment from my father’s side is quite rare. My father will make such a comment on someone only if he has performed so extra-ordinarily. There is a great intimacy when Dulquer calls him Uppuppa,’ said Shobi Thilakan.

Shobi Thilakan said that his father will not appreciate him in front of others. 'My father will not congratulate me in front of others because he thinks that I may be arrogant. But when I am not there, he will shower praises. It was my father who gave the confidence to Hariharan sir to make me dub in Pazhassi Raja film, he clarified.
