'Cried for one full day, what did I do wrong?'; Singer Vijay Madhav responds to controversy

For the last few days, some quarters of Kerala’s social media have been busy discussing the name chosen for the second child of Devika-Vijay Madhav couple. The couple named their recently born second child ‘Om Paramathma’, a rare choice for a name. It was raining trolls and vile messages for the couple right after Vijay shared the name of their newborn on social media. Now, Vijay has decided to end the silence and respond to the issue.

Vijay Madhav:

“Normally we would have done a video to explain our side, but here we thought not to do so because it was nothing great to talk about. But even after two days, there is no stopping the negative comments on my Instagram page. We thought the issue would go away on its own but were badly mistaken.

Devika was crying inside the room for a day reading all those comments. Some of the body-shaming comments were disgusting to the core. I don’t know the ‘big mistake’ I committed. I selected a name for my child and shared it with you all.

When I was filming the video, Devika was not in her best mood. It might have given a wrong impression to people that she disliked the name. Let me tell you something honest. After marriage, I would not do anything without Devika’s permission, even for trivial matters. People on social media are calling me a narcissist, and accusing me of being condescending and toxic in my marriage.

I don’t feel the need to see a doctor to cure my ‘toxicity’. I have asked for Devika’s opinion before naming our child. The real problem for people is the name chosen. I find the name very powerful. I can tell you a thousand reasons that made me pick that name. But whatever I say people may find my talks defensive. ‘Om Paramathma’ is a very powerful name for us and we believe our child will have the blessings.
