BAREILLY: A fatwa has been issued against Bollywood star Nushrratt Bharuccha for visiting the famous Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple. The fatwa was issued by Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi, the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat (AIMJ).
Mufti Shahabuddin pointed out that Nushrratt's actions were wrong according to Sharia law. He pointed out that going to the temple and performing ritualistic things, and performing abhishekam on the idol, is against Muslim religious rules. "It is a grave sin for a Muslim to engage in non-Islamic religious practices. What Nushrratt Bharuccha has done is wrong under the Sharia law. She should repent for her actions and express remorse by reciting the Kalima," said Shahabuddin.
The actress visited the Mahakal temple in Ujjain on Putrada Ekadashi, seeking blessings before the New Year. The actress visited the temple with a prayer for the coming year to overcome difficulties and bring good things in life. Nushrratt also participated in the Bhasma Aarti. After offering prayers at the temple complex, she stated that visiting the Mahakal Temple brings her a sense of peace, positivity, and fresh energy. Her statement and visit to the temple are what prompted reactions from Muslim religious leaders.
