KOCHI: Bhadra Keerthi, the daughter of Jayabalakrishnan—who died in the Cheranalloor road accident—expressed worry over the court proceedings in the case.

"The court's actions are directed against the government and the prosecution; there was even an element of mockery. It feels like a drama. I had hoped that things would progress positively. As ordinary people, we don't understand any of this, nor do we know what is going to happen next.

What has transpired undermines faith in the court. Both the police and the court have faltered. The situation has reached a point where ordinary people can no longer live in this land. We arrived here with the hope of a favourable verdict. Do not assume that we will give up and withdraw following this judgment; we will continue to pursue the case as best as we can. However, we have lost that faith in the legal system," said Bhadra Keerthi.

Jayabalakrishnan (55), a native of Manjaly, died after his scooter was struck by a luxury Mercedes-Benz car driven by the 17-year-old son of an Additional District Judge in Cheranalloor, Kochi. The vehicle was registered in the judge's name. Evidence indicated that the car was travelling at a speed of 104 km/h just before the accident. The family of the victim alleged that, following the incident, the judge and the police attempted to sabotage the case and destroy evidence contained on the accused's phone and Instagram account.
