Again oxygen scarcity reported in Palakkad; complaints about oxygen availability being raised from different hospitals

PALAKKAD: Complaints have emerged from different hospitals in the district over the scarcity of oxygen cylinders when the covid cases in the state are going to new heights every day. Most of the oxygen cylinders needed for the state is supplied from the coach factory in Kanjikode, Palakkad. The complaints about the unavailability of oxygen are being raised by private hospitals in the district. More than 100 covid patients are undergoing treatment in different private hospitals in the district.

More than 60 patients are undergoing treatment at Palana hospital in Palakkad. The shortage of oxygen cylinders has enhanced the concerns among the relatives of the patients admitted to different hospitals in the state. District collector, in the meeting attended by DMO, has taken appropriate action to ensure a smooth supply of oxygen cylinders in the district.

Meanwhile, authorities of the oxygen plant in Kanjikode has said that they have not reduced their production and the shortage is due to the issues created by middlemen who have the responsibility of distribution of oxygen cylinders.
