Kodi Suni and team behind Fazal murder, confirms CBI

KANNUR: The CBI rejected the claim that RSS activists are behind the Thalassery Fazal murder case. The CBI’s stand is that Kodi Suni and his team accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case are behind the murder and CPM leaders Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan have a role in the case. The CBI team in the report submitted in the special court demanded the court to uphold their first charge sheet and take further action.

Mohammad Fazal, a newspaper boy was murdered on October 22 in 2006 near the Sayedar Mosque in Thalassery. It was alleged that Fazal, a CPM activist, was killed in protest of leaving the party and joining the NDF. However, RSS activist Subeesh had stated that the CPM was not involved in the case and that Fazal was killed by four RSS workers including him. However, the CBI said Subeesh was forced to say that in police custody. The CPM from the beginning of the case had alleged that RSS were behind the murder. But Fazal's relatives had denied CPM's stand.

The CBI started further probe in the Fazal murder case following a directive of the Kerala High Court. The court ordered a CBI probe after considering the plea of Fazal’s brother Abdul Sathaar. Fazal murder is the first case taken up by the CBI in the political murder cases in Kannur.
