Elephant goes berserk after seeing cat, creates panic on MC road for hours

KOLLAM: An elephant brought for a ritual at the Vettikavala Mahadevar temple went berserk on Friday causing panic for several hours. The incident took place on the MC road at Sadanandapuram near Kottarakkara. With this, traffic was disrupted for a long time. The elephant was tamed after a hard effort.

The elephant first turned violent near Vettikavala. It then ran through various roads and reached Sadanandapuram. Though the elephant ran for hours, it did not cause any damage. The elephant was later seen standing at a rubber plantation near MC Road. Following this, it was tamed.

The mahout told forest officials that the elephant went berserk and broke the chain after seeing a cat jumping across.
