THRISSUR: Poet Madhavan Ayyappath died here late Saturday night. He was 87. He was a recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and Asan Prize. His main literary works are Jivacharitra Kurippukal, Sri Narayana Guru (English), Dharmapatham (Translation), Kilimozhikal (collection of poems), Maniyarayil and Maniyarayilekku.
Ayyappath was born on April 24 in 1934 at Chowannur near Kunnamkulam in Thrissur to Ayyappath Lakshmikkutty Amma and Peringott Karumathil Ramunni Nair. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Madras and a Master's degree in English Literature. He was a central government employee till 1992. He leaves behind his wife Remadevi and children Dr Sanjay T Menon and Manjima Babloo.
