KITEX workers tried to kill policemen, CI attacked by group of 50

KOCHI: The arrest of 162 people has been registered in connection with the attack on police by migrant workers of KITEX Group. The accused will be produced in the court soon. Serious charges including murder attempt have been imposed on them.

The remand report stated that the attackers intended to kill police officers including the circle inspector who came to stop the clashes between the workers. They attacked the police with stones, sticks and deadly weapons.

The attackers were not willing to disperse even after the police asked them. The report said a group of more than 50 tried to kill circle inspector Sajan. The police estimated a loss of Rs 12 lakh.
