THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran said that the recent revelations have proved that the state and central governments had worked together to bury the gold smuggling case.

"If the case had been properly investigated, Pinarayi Vijayan would have ended up in jail along with Sivashankar and Swapna Suresh. A re-investigation into the gold smuggling case is necessary based on the latest revelations," Sudhakaran said.

"The gold smuggling case was settled in the wake of the last assembly elections. The BJP-CPM relationship paved the way for the compromise. The BJP not only helped Pinarayi Vijayan to get out of the case but also to come back to power," Sudhakaran added.

"Swapna's recent revelations cast doubt on the CM. Everything such as Swapna getting a job in CM's department, her husband getting a job in K-FON, demanding an NIA probe into the gold smuggling case and Sivasankar's intervention to get the diplomatic baggage released are pointing fingers at the CM's role. Sivasankar was only a tool of the CM. However, not even a petty case was registered against the CM," he added.
