KANNUR: A recommendation has been made to impose KAAPA on Arjun Ayanki, the main accused in the Karipur gold smuggling quotation case. The report has been submitted by Commissioner R Elango to DIG Rahul R Nair. According to the police report, Arjun Ayanki is a regular offender. Ayanki will not be able to enter Kannur district if the order is issued.

Earlier, the DYFI had lodged a complaint with the police against Ayanki for defamation on social media. The KAAPA recommendation is followed by this.

Earlier, DYFI state president S Satish had said that all the accused in the gold smuggling case including Arjun Ayanki were criminals. Arjun Ayanki and Aakash Thillankeri are not even members of the DYFI unit committee. Satheesh had said on social media that they had tried to prove that they were members of the party, but as soon as this was noticed, the organization publicly rejected them.

Arjun Ayanki, who was arrested by Customs last year in the Karipur citation case, is currently out on bail. As per the DIG's request for further clarification on the first recommendation, a report was submitted today which contains details of the criminal case within the Valapattanam station limits and the details of the gold smuggling quotation activities. On June 28, 2021, Arjun Ayanki was arrested by the Customs in the Karipur gold smuggling case. On August 31, the High Court has granted bail to Arjun Ayanki with strict conditions.
