NEW DELHI: The Central Election Commission announced that the Presidential Election will be held on July 18. The notification will be issued on June 15th and the nomination papers can be filed till June 29. The counting of votes will take place on July 21. There are a total of 4809 voters. The total vote value is 10,86,431. The vote value of MLAs is 5,43,23 and the vote value of MPs is 5,43,200.
The counting of votes will take place in Delhi. Political parties cannot give a whip. The Rajya Sabha secretary general of the Rajya Sabha is the election presiding officer. The election will be cancelled if bribery or pressure is found. The vote will be turn void if the pen provided by the election commissioner is not used, the election commission said in a press conference.
The election comes in the backdrop of President Ram Nath Kovind's term ending on July 24. The President is elected by the electoral college consisting of elected members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, as well as members of the State Legislative Assemblies, Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Uttar Pradesh has the highest vote value in the electoral college.
