THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is an undeclared emergency in the country, said prominent Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan, in a press conference at Kesari Hall.
“Telling the truth and revealing the reality have become great sins. Cases have been filed against journalist Mohammad Zubair in various states citing various reasons. Airports, ports, electricity supply are all being sold to Modi’s close friend Adani. It was during the UDF government, that Vizhinjam port was decided to be given to Adani. Later, the LDF government did not oppose it. Mundra port, which is under Adani’s custody, is the country's biggest drug smuggling hub. Drug deals worth Rs 25,000 crores take place there. The central government has not taken any action against it. The construction of the port in Vizhinjam is disastrous for the state. Even the state government is turning a blind eye to the environmental disaster caused by the implementation of the project. Due to the construction of the Vizhinjam port, fishermen are forced to end up in relief camps. People should take to streets against this”, Bhushan said.
“If the Vizhinjam project affects coastal areas, the SilverLine project shall affect the entire state. The government is intending to implement the project without learning about its consequences. Silverline will be a disaster for Kerala economically, environmentally and socially”, he added.
Bhushan also said that it is not right to ban words in the parliament, which is a platform for open debates. Many laws are passed in the parliament without even a discussion. Those who criticize the central government will be arrested at any moment, he said.
