NEW DELHI: The family of the girl killed while working as a receptionist in a resort owned by the son of a BJP leader in Uttarakhand, has accused the incident. The family of Ankita Bhandari (19) alleged that Vantara Resort, where she worked, was demolished to destroy the evidence in the case. The family said they will not cremate the body till the final post mortem report is released.

A post-mortem conducted by the doctors of AIIMS indicated that Ankita died of asphyxiation and had bruises on her face. Former chief minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat said that this is a planned murder and people are expressing doubts on the demolition of the resort. Rawat opined that police delayed the investigation and a delay occurred in registering the FIR.

Three including the resort owner Pulkit Arya killed the girl as she was not ready to have sex with the guests of the resort. Pulkit said she was pushed into the canal and killed following a verbal dispute. Following public outrage over the incident, the resort was demolished on the directive of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the accused's father, BJP leader Vinod Arya, also a former minister, and his son Ankit Arya were expelled from the party.
