KOZHIKODE: The charge sheet of the Crime Branch says that Kalleri native Sajeevan, who was taken into custody by the Vadakara police, died while in police custody. Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had replied to a question raised by Vadakara MLA KK Rema in the Legislative Assembly that Sajeevan's death was not in police custody.

As per the finding of the crime branch, Sajeevan collapsed and died due to police beating. The crime branch found that the police made a mistake in the investigation based on the post-mortem report and the inquest report.

The crime branch will file the charge sheet in the court soon after it receives the inspection report of the CCTV footage sent to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Kannur.

Four policemen were suspended and all policemen of the station were transferred in connection with the incident.
