Gas cylinder explodes in school

PERUMBAVOOR: The kitchen of Govt LP School, Okkal, was destroyed after a cooking gas cylinder exploded. The incident happened at 6.20 pm yesterday. The cylinder, which exploded, pierced the wall of the building and fell into an adjacent room. The window also got damaged. The cooking utensils and stove were burnt. A big disaster was averted as the incident took place after school time. The staff of the school had locked the door after putting the water to boil on the wood stove in the kitchen. It is believed that the explosion took place after the fire spread from the wood stove. The fire force came from Perumbavoor and extinguished the fire.
