NEW DELHI: As per government data, India's electricity consumption has increased by 11 percent to 121.19 billion units in December.
India's electricity consumption is projected to increase by 11 percent to 121.19 billion units in December 2022 compared to the previous year. Experts say electricity consumption and demand will increase further in January due to the use of heating devices, especially in northern parts of the country, and further improvement in economic activity.
In December 2021, electricity consumption was 109.17 billion units. The figures released by the government also indicate that consumption in the same month of 2020 was 105.62 billion units.
The peak electricity consumption rate for one day was 205.03 GW in December 2022. The maximum power supply was 183.24 GW in December 2021 and 182.78 GW in December 2020.
The peak power demand was 170.49 GW in December 2019.
