Taro leaves help Ranni native get a Guinness

farming

TRIVANDRUM: A farmer in Ranni, Pathanamthitta easily gets the prized Guinness and how. Reji Joseph achieved the rare feat just with the help of taro leaves. The unreal dimension of 114 cm in length and 94 cm in width for Reji’s taro leaves paved the way for the Guinness to come to the village in Ranni.

For Reji, getting the Guinness doesn’t elicit any big surprise, because he is a frequenter with awards. A 5 kg aerial yam and 17 kg turmeric from a single plant earned him the universal record forums award.

Reji is a part-time Television operator and owns a 2-acre rubber plot to which he dedicates his precious time. He has aspiringly taken one acre of land on lease to carry out farming of other species than rubber. Reji never compromises on the qualities of the seeds he buys. At regular intervals, he sprays down organic fertilizers and waters twice a day. These are his to-do list while trying earnestly to succeed in organic farming.
