CALIFORNIA: Famous Hollywood actor Val Kilmer passed away on Wednesday. The 65-year-old actor died in Los Angeles after contracting pneumonia. The New York Times reported, citing his daughter, that he died on Tuesday night. He had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014. However, the disease was later cured.
Val Kilmer was one of the most notable and sought-after actors in Hollywood in the 80s and 90s. His performance as a supporting actor in the Tom Cruise Film Top Gun was highly appreciated. His character, Jim Morrison, in Oliver Stone's The Doors (1991), is also a favorite of Hollywood fans.
Kilmer rose to fame for his role in the superhero Batman series, Batman Forever. He also starred in a handful of hit films, including Tombstone and Heat. The tracheostomy surgery affected his voice and hampered his acting career. However, Kilmer made a comeback in 2022, playing the role of fighter pilot Iceman in Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom Cruise.
