Deadly suicide attack at Christian Church in Syria; 15 people killed

DAMASCUS: A suicide bombing at a Christian church in Damascus on Sunday has left at least 15 people dead. According to reports from international news agencies, the attack was allegedly carried out by an IS militant.

The incident took place during Sunday mass at St. Elias Church in the Dweila area of the Syrian capital. According to preliminary reports, the assailant opened fire on the congregation before detonating an explosive device, resulting in multiple casualties.

Local media have indicated that children may be among the victims. Security personnel and emergency responders quickly reached the scene and cordoned off the area.
