‘My mother had never told me to get married’; Ranjini Haridas cites reason for being single

Ranjini Haridas is one of the favorite television anchors of Malayalees. She had recently participated in the students protest organized under the leadership of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the NEET question paper leak. Now in her 40s and being single, Ranjini has revealed now why she has decided not to marry. Her revelation was via her YouTube channel.

‘I have never been interested in marriage. This is a question being asked repeatedly for the past 20 years. I don’t want to get married. I have no idea what tomorrow would be. Right now, I am happy being single. I have even asked myself whether I should get married.

I never thought about marriage in my 20s. It was a time when I was growing, meeting people and dating. One of the main reasons I never thought about marriage is that I did not grow up seeing it. That was the kind of family environment I grew up in. I had only my mother. As a child, I couldn’t understand the dynamics between a husband and wife. My father died when I was seven. We understand our likes and dislikes only when we date someone.

I don’t see ending a relationship as something wrong. I have never believed that one should endure everything and sacrifice their happiness just to stay in a relationship. That is why I have had breakups. I have never had the belief that every relationship should eventually lead to marriage. My mother has never asked me to get married because she knows me very well,’ said Ranjini Haridas.
